ALUMNI STORIES

ATI College is committed in producing highly qualified, skilled and competent graduates. Over the years since its establishment in 1996, ATI College has witnessed many successful graduates who are now pursuing their careers that were once just dreams.

I chose ATI College to take a Diploma in Pastry Arts course because I found this college well-known and professional in the field of culinary and pastry. I have also studied this college where the college and lecturers and chefs have been experienced for more than 20 years. Now ATI College has reached 25 years.

During the Pandemic in Malaysia due to COVID-19, we have learned to use online methods, which is using google classroom and including our exams, tests, assignments, and other coursework. At first it was very difficult because this was the first time for all students had experienced this kind of situation but never feel give up to learn because we always received strong and fully support from family and friends, and also words of encouragement from our beloved lecturers who always struggled to help the student not to miss out on their studies. I am very grateful from the beginning of my first semester and the final exam results were very satisfactory. I have achieved a record where my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th  semesters have received excellent results with GPA of 4.00.

During my work I was able to continue my studies despite the challenges and conjectures that had to be faced and there had to be a strong spirit where I had a big responsibility for me to carry. However, there was never a barrier for me to continue my online class because that time also our practical kitchen class was not open for the students due to the MCO. Until our practical kitchen class was open back for the students since the kitchen class was postponed due to MCO. The last semester was the final exam for baking and decorating cakes. I am grateful that the final exam was in good condition and I finally managed to finish the course completely with my team.

While I am still working, I also produce my own Raya cookie products which I received a lot of response and highly demand from my customers. Reyma Neyda Patisserie is my cookie product brand and has hit sales more than RM10,000 during the Holy month of Ramadan 2022. Thank you so much to my loving parents and families who have always been very supportive. Not forgetting thank you so much to ATI College especially to my lecturers who have taught me and guided me a lot in my studies. Thank you also to the admin, marketing staff and librarian staff who have dealt with me and helped a lot from the beginning when I registered as a student. Last but not least, thank you to my classmates and team for successfully finishing our course. Congratulations ATI College on making it through the COVID-19 pandemic until the students have finished their studies and hopefully ATI College will remain successful in the future.

I rarely read books, but there is one who captures my thoughts. The seven ages of a man, written by William Shakespeare. That's how and where I got the courage to step down in my safe zone, leave my own country, choose to cross the ocean and fly beyond the clouds to continue my journey and finish my last staircase of education "college". As i arrive here i have nothing but hopes and dreams like a bird wanted to fly but doesn't know how. Asian Tourism International College offered to become my ladder and wings upon reaching my goals. In ATI I have met a lot of wonderful people, kind, passionate and very friendly lecturers who patiently teach their students. A very humble Malaysian classmate and friends who openly embraced me despite our differences in culture and language barrier, help me and teach me to correct my Bahasa Melayu. As I end telling my story and journey in ATI. My sincere and highest gratitude to Asian Tourism International College to the lecturers, staff and my classmates. Thank you so much for everything.

I commenced my education at ATI College in year 2012 and graduated in year 2014 with a Diploma in Event Management. I landed myself a job few months after that. I am not that talkative but I am quite responsible and passionate with my job as Sales Coordinator at Sabah Hotel, Sandakan. My job leads me to meeting new people and friends and enables me to learn how to coordinate and manage different kind of events at my workplace. Recently, I have successfully passed my three months job probation and received good comments from my manager.

Working in a hotel, gives me motivation when I see guests are satisfied. When guests give their good feedback, the sense of happiness and appreciation is priceless.

I believe ATI College has helped put me where I am today. Classes that allowed me to learn by coordinating small events, has taught me how to be by giving me the opportunity to learn new things and coordinate small events at College as well as teaching me on how to be an independent person, reliable and able to work in a team. This learning process provided me with better social skills when it comes to dealing with customers. I was also given the opportunity to volunteer at the Sabah Hospitality Fiesta 2012 as a crew and it was such a great experience. The six months of internship which is part of my program, also helped me gained more experience and benefits before I join the employment world.

I am a graduate of Wingan & Leigh Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management from ATI College in the year 2000 and specialized in Culinary and Restaurant Management. When I was studying here, the syllabus focused on written knowledge and emphasis on practical knowledge which gave me a strong foundation in the Hospitality industry. This college has given me important basics in practicality that has shaped me into a better communicator, and an excellent team player within any organization.

After graduating in 2000, I spent my first 10 years in the hotel industry. I was an avid learner of the Culinary Arts, particularly in Fine Dining. I have worked with five star hotel in Sabah and Kuala Lumpur such as Sutera Harbour Resort, Carcosa Seri Negara and Sheraton Imperial. Over the years, I moved up the ranks to Assistant Manager. Finding that I needed more challenges, I continued to gain experiences in independent cafes where I shared my specialties and passion in the restaurant business.

Now, my typical everyday routine starts with me teaching yoga for an hour or two. After that, my schedule of the day changes and fluctuates by appointment between 10am to 8pm. I meet about six to seven clients a day. For each client, I nurture and guide them on how to live in a holistic way. I teach and guide my clients not only about nutrition, but I also teach them yoga as it may help my clients to recover from certain illnesses and adjust their body towards a healthier lifestyle. A client can choose to stay in the program for a week or a maximum of three months, depending on the type of illness that they are facing. I feel great every time knowing that my clients' lives improved through added knowledge on healthy lifestyle - physically and spiritually, as well as living a fruitful life.

Finally, I am now managing a small catering service that teaches and guides people to lead a vegetarian lifestyle in an Ayurvedic way of living using knowledge that has spanned for 5000 years.

I started my life as a student at ATI College in January 2012. I was the fourth batch that enrolled for the Diploma in Business Management. After two years of equipping myself with the relevant knowledge, I applied for an internship at Tong Hing Supermarket. I was very lucky because instead of taking me in as an intern, I was absorbed as a permanent staff immediately even before I graduated. This proves that the company acknowledged and recognizes the quality of ATI College's academic program, which they believe can be useful and could enhance their business operations.

Today, It has been more than a year since I started my career with Tong Hing Supermarket. I love my job because I gained lots of knowledge and new experiences. Not only was  I involved in daily operational duties, but I am also involved in communicating and maintaining relationship with oversea suppliers, our forwarding agents as well as colleagues.

I have always been passionate about accounting. When ATI College started offering business and accountancy diplomas in year 2011, without any hesitation enrolled myself into the Diploma of Accountancy program.

Although the study journey was filled with challenges, I never found it impossible to overcome the challenges as the lecturers were always there to guide me. I studied for about two years before I went on to complete my practical at an audit firm in Keningau. The six months practical period, I was assigned and trained to handle the accounts auditing task for many sole proprietor, partnerships and Sdn Bhd companies with the help and guidance from the seniors.

After completing my practical training, I developed an interest to be an entrepreneur. To kick start my dream, I joined I-Synergy International Sdn Bhd. My role is to guide and train younger entrepreneurs to move forward in line with the vision and mission of the company, My latest achievement was being appointed as a Qualified Regional Affiliate Agency (QRAA) in March 2015. This became my platform for me to use and help people to improve themselves in entrepreneurship and achieve long term financial goals.

I am very happy with what I am doing today. Studying at ATI College has prepared me to face the challenges in the real would and helped me achieved what I have today. As the saying goes, knowledge is the key to success. Alhamdulilah, I am grateful to all those who has guided me along the way.

I believe everyone can be somebody. Nothing is impossible. It just depends on how you manage yourself of course. I would want to be somebody one day when I return to the lovely "Land Below the Wind".

The biggest challenge in my career is the amount of sacrifices that I have to make in terms of my time. Some people may even think that I do not have much of a life since I work in the evenings. I even work during public holidays, school holidays and even on weekends.

Currently, I am a Group Hostess Manager in The Marini's Group. What I love most about my job is that I can talk to different people of different races from all over the world. The world is such a huge place consisting of different cultures and norms. I am also privileged to wear different uniforms with different colors depending on the season of the year. My team and I are the ambassadors of the company and it is very important that we provide a good first impression to the guests.

I would like to say that without ATI College, I would not be where I am today. I've experienced my first taste of the hospitality lifestyle at ATI College. ATI College gave me the chance to participate in the table setting competition during the Sabah Hospitality Fiesta. Many of the lecturers also helped me to get to where I am today. They introduced me to a part-time job at a 5-star hotel. They also assisted me to contact a hotel in Kuala Lumpur where I started my internship. I'm probably the first student from ATI College to have completed the required internship outside of Sabah. Now I am successful where I am today. Even though I am not working in the hotel industry anymore, I must admit that my soul is still in the F & B industry. I would like to thank Mr. Defiry, Mr. Izwan and Mr. Hubert for all that you have taught me. I would also like to thank YBhg. Datuk Seri Panglima Wong Khen Thau for having the vision to build such a wonderful college.

I was an intern for six months at Popular Express Travel Sdn Bhd. Throughout the six months of my internship, I have the chance to learn many new things and improve my ticketing skills. I was always complimented by my seniors because I am a fast-learner. At the end of my internship, I was immediately offered a job at the company. Currently, I am working as a travel assistant and a tour leader.

As a travel assistant, I help customers to search for the most reasonably priced tickets and accommodations to realize their dreams of travelling to other countries. At Popular, we also provide some budget traveling packages for those who are traveling on a tight budget. As a tour leader, we escort our customers to foreign countries and take care of them during the traveling period. During the tour, we will assist the customers to do flight and hotel check-ins, arrange hotel rooms as well as meals for them. All we hope for is that our customers enjoy the tour and are satisfied with the services that we have provided. When customers are happy, we as tour leaders will also feel satisfied.

I am proud to say that I am a student of ATI College. I never regretted my decision to study here. ATI College has helped me a lot throughout my days as a student. It provides useful courses to help me get to where I am today. I am glad that ATI College provides the Abacus training which allows me to immediately familiarize myself with my job at my current company since they are using the same system.

Furthermore, I am also glad that ATI College provides a Japanese language course for tourism students, as it did help me when I led a tour to Japan. In one word, I would describe ATI College as EXCELLENT!
